Last school year (2020/21), the Friends, in close collaboration with the school management and the parent board (GEV) have established a designated educational budget. It allows us to better meet the special needs of our young and growing bilingual school – needs that are not covered by WMIS’ ordinary school budget provided by the Berlin Senate. This fund is coordinated by the school directorate and all teachers can submit requests for funding.

A big Thanks to the many families who contributed to the 2020/21 education budget! In total, we were able to raise 8500€ from WMIS families for the education budget!

During the school year, this budget was used to purchase additional education resources for more than 7500€. This included licenses for Seesaw, Antolin, and Twinkle – but also additional book sets for languages to adequately support both mother and partner tongue learners, etc. The fund also covered basic equipment like stationery and art supplies that parents otherwise would have needed to purchase individually at the beginning of the school year.

In addition to the contributions from the families, many WMIS classes decided at the end of the school year to donate their remaining class kitties to the education budget – providing an additional 556€. This greatly helps to support requests from our teaching teams already early in the new school year.

For the new school year (2021/22) we are now calling again for contributions to the education budget. As for last year, the estimated amount is 100€ per child. If you are able, please support our school by transferring a contribution for your child(ren) to our dedicated education budget account:
